ARTICLE THURSDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2016 – “PROTECTION PLAN EXPECTED FOR WORKERS AMID INSTABILITY”

Once again we see the trade union movement jumping forward to do two things.  Firstly obviously they want to try and improve the lot of the membership despite the fact that the business community might not be able to afford extra payments, over and above this the government can ill afford to extend the social security net that they already have in place.

Secondly a call of this nature makes the employment of labour so much less enticing.  The onerous employment environment will cause the business community to once again look to mechanise, retrench and even to continue with the investment strike.

Hopefully our President has learnt a thing or two from the various meetings with the business community and will not be hell bent on destroying the  goose that lays the golden egg and who pays the income tax.
