Mail & Guardian writes that, while looming wage negotiations in the gold mining sector have provided some evidence of a co-ordinated external threat against the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu), insiders believe increasing paranoia in the union is a result of its own structural weaknesses rather than outside interference.
