The Parliamentary Committee on Labour has become almost a joke.  There is a forensic audit report that is public knowledge and it is clear that staff of the Department of Labour have abused the Nedlac credit card to buy household goods.  The battle to obtain the report was hard fought by MP Ian Ollis but now that it is in the public domain the committee is doing everything in its power to try and avoid discussing it.  The oversight role is being denied and every half baked excuse under the sun is being used to avoid exposing the fraud and to avoid action being taken against the individuals.  The frustration of those who want a clean administration is being exacerbated by the fact that the ANC MP’s are doing everything in their power to avoid justice being done.

I, for one, together with my colleagues are not going to let go and it is vital for the press to constantly be vigilant to ensure antics such as the above are brought to everyone’s attention.  If an employee in the private sector abused a business credit card to buy household goods such as nappies, power tools, boxer shorts and toilet paper they wouldn’t last on the payroll for one month let alone over a year.
