KEY PETROSA EXECUTIVES FINALLY SUSPENDED

It is good to note two of the executives are going to be properly investigated however, our experience with the government and all the parastatals is that people are normally suspended without the proper process and are also kept suspended for many, many months on full pay.  The lesson to be learnt from the private sector is that the suspension has to be done in accordance with the Labour Relations Act and in accordance with a fair procedure.  Furthermore, a suspension should be short lived and properly investigated leading to either a disciplinary enquiry or a reinstatement of the individual.  There is no excuse to let a suspension run for longer than a month.

Our government see fit to suspend people and keep them for sometimes up to years suspended on full pay whilst they are trying to find some wrong doing or other.  Not only does this cost the tax payers enormous money but it also leads to a degeneration of the actual organisation.

When will they ever learn?
